Sauth paused a moment before replying. -It's unfair. From the start of times, greens were chucked firestone so that we wouldn't overload the world with greens. What about now? All the weyrs are understrength. You had to call all the dragons from all the weyrs to fight Thread. If you stopped some greens from becoming sterile, there'd be more fighting dragons. Isn't that what you need? Hmm? And disabilities, who's to say that my clutch'd have any, likely as it'd seem,- Sauth pointed out. -Even if they did, what's to say it would be a problem? Oversize wings or an elongated tail would most likely have possibilities that no one's explored. Maybe blindness allows other senses to flourish, such as smell. Does anyone really know the extent of what might be gained from 'deformed' dragons? It's not like I'm asking for all greens on Pern to be able to. I'm going to, whether you like it or not. I'll clutch at a Weyr; you can have the dragons. Most Renegades've had problems with dragons anyway.-
