A 6 ply keller set would be a good "general purpose" set which will sound good in a variety of situations.
My only concern would be using the 6 ply on the bass. It may be a bit on the weak side and that could cause durablity problems as well as tuning problems. I would suggest that if you really want to use 6 ply for the bass, use rings for the extra support or use 8 ply instead. The difference in sound on the bass between 6 and 8 ply would be difficult to hear but I think you would be happier in the long run. A drum that flexes like a 6 ply bass will need to be retuned evertime you move it.
Just a couple of thoughts.
