So six plys without rings would be fine?

Here's what I'm planning on doing.....

18x20, 9x12, 13x15

I'd like these drums to have a decent range. I'll be playing these drums a lot live, smaller venues, probably un mic'd for now. I'll be playing jazz and rock. I'm positive these are the sizes I want, I'm just not sure how many plys will suit me.
