there are many different ways to meditate and I would alsways
suggest to someone to find what works for them and stick with it for
as long as it feels right. It's easy to get a bit lost in this ever
changing world and there are many different aspects that can get
confusing.

meditation. Some say it quietens the mind.
others that is helps relieve stress.
Some say that praying is talking to God, while meditating is
listening to God.
Others say it is a way in which to heal and connect the mind, body
and spirit, and that by reducing the level at which the mind
works, can instigate healing on a cellular level.

Personally: I like quiet relaxing music, a candle lit, joss stick
perfuming the air and just a period in which to sit comfortable and
float with the music allowing my consciousness to let go of all the
busy pictures and thoughts that are forever swirling around in my
head, and with some deep breathing, I can find that inner place of
peaceful harmony.

It is - of course - different for everyone.
