Tim, I grew up fishing the Feather. Where are you going. I prefer to fish the middle fork near the town of quincy and bucks lake. Depending on the time of year, and time of day there are a few flies that can't be resisted. During the morning and evening, try mosquitos, adams and elkhair caddis for big rainbows and browns. During mid day, a carpenter ant or hopper works best. The best way to fish the upper sections of the river is by raft. Don't bother trying the north fork. To many power plant have silted up the spawning habitat. There are fish but not very good for ecosystem. I haven't done much fishing on the lower section from oroville downstream but I have been told that lg stoneflys work well. Alan Bruza at the Sportsmans den in Quincy would know everything you need. Good luck ian
