Subject: LOVING

I was watching some of my LOVING videotapes yesterday and I still cannot figure out why this show never lived up to it's creator's expectations.
There was some great things in that show; I adored Ava and her mother Kate, Linden Ashby was perfect as Curtis Alden and there was so much potential in the Steve-Trisha romance.
Christine Tudor was great as Gwyneth Alden; I still wonder why GUIDING LIGHT never picked her up as Alexandra Spaulding and ANOTHER WORLD never hired her as Iris Carrington.
I never cared for Jack and Stacey; they bored me to death. The Clay Alden-Alex Masters mess never worked for me, I found it insane.
LOVING might have worked out in the Nielsens if it had been written by Claire Labine and produced by Felicia Minei Behr.
THE CITY was a disaster.
I still cannot understand why ABC cancelled LOVING in order to create monsterous CITY and later even worse PORT CHARLES.
LOVING would have had decent ratings if it had focused on the Corinth Campus students. After all, it was Nixon and Marland's original concept for the show.

I loved Christine Tudor Newman as well.
Linden Ashby and Susan Walters were great as Curtis and Lorna Forbes, but Wesley Addy and Augusta Dabney never worked for me as the show's patriarchs. I liked Celeste Holm and Patricia Barry as Isabelle Alden a lot!

CITY was a disaster!
