*Okay, so I am now reposting my reply to this question from back at the old J/7 Forums. Hope you don't mind! :)*

You know, that's a really good question actually Angie.
In all honesty I've been aware of BTVS since its first season but something always turned me off to it, I can't quite put my finger on it.
In any case, I did use to watch Sarah Michelle Gellar on "All My Children" back in my highschool days and thought she was great so you'd think I'd watch "Buffy" to check it out as a fan, right? But nope, I just never got into it.............
Until this summer.
Once again (this seems to happen a lot) if it hadn't been at the "urging" (She says "urge" I say "insist!") of Kitty I never would have started watching BTVS.
It took her a while, but after giving me "Buffy background" over the phone and some good URL's for webfandom sites I was finally convinced, albiet rather skeptical, to watch Buffy when this season started on UPN in October.
I'm happy to report that I'm now properly hooked and look forward to new episodes with the same rabid fascination as I do for "ER" and "West Wing" and at one time "Voyager".
And luckily our local FOX and UPN stations run re-runs of BTVS seasons past so I can catch up on all the old-happenings of the Scooby gang and finally start to understand the inside jokes and references!
Oh yes, I should mention that much to someone's chagrin Xander is my favortie, followed by Spike and Willow.
Well, the re-runs help, but I've been promised a crash course in BTVS come March and I intend to hold her to it!

I suppose now would be a good time to tell you I've finally been suckered into watching "Angel" as well.
By whom? Need you ask...
*Whispers*---I watched it for the first time last night.......*whispers more softly* Yes, I liked it, it was actually pretty cool even if I like the others more than Angel....and if you're reading this and gloating Miss Kitty then just you wait!!!! I hope you're happy you've managed to read my mind twice now! Auugh!
Just kidding.......
