Has anyone noticed that as of recently Austins career seems to be practically identical to Bret Harts? If you look back and compare them they follow the exact same pattern.

Bret was pushed to main event status in the early 1990's and was considered as WWF Championship material after a lengthy and successful run as the IC champ as well as a King of the Ring victory. He may not of had the same drawing power as Hogan but definitely spiked TV ratings and increased fan interest. In the mid 90's McMahon signed Austin and immedietly saw potential. Austin also went on to win King of the Ring and had an IC title reign. With a fresh new 'badass' attitude Austin was drawing ratings which led the WWF to beat WCW in the ratings war, thus them seeing it as the best move to put the strap on Austin.

In 96 Bret took 6 months off to take up small acting parts. After returning he resumed his top babyface role for a short period of time until he was presented with the idea of turning heel to keep his character fresh. Although Bret was not keen on the idea he still played along. Steve Austin was in the same posistion last year. After taking time off due to injury he came back played his usual babyface role only to become public enemy no. 1 and given his un-wanted heel personna ironically at Wrestlemania like Bret.

Both guys spoke very highly of McMahon during their main tenure with the company. And both guys credited McMahon for their huge popularity. However at the end of Bret's career in the WWF him and McMahon's relationship seemed to diteriate until there big fall out. Its been said on the net that Austin and McMahon have recently been arguing about Austins posistion in the company with Austin refusing to put over guys and job for Scott Hall because of his primadonna ways.

Anyway the analysis shows that Bret and Austin have an un-satisfying similarities. If anyone else agrees or dis-agrees please reply with your own thoughts.
