My guess is because having the butterfly is enough. You really only need one thing to recognize a band, so, having the name in standard text is just simpler. eg, everyone recognizes Foo Fighters with the FF logo in the red circle, or like nine inch nails with the NIN in the rectangle. so having plain text is easier to read, and long as you can still have some standard logo that people identify with.
