Champion bull gets married to cow as reward for 8 fights

A champion fighting bull has got married in Thailand in front of 500 human guests.

Its owner says he promised to find the bull a permanent mate after it won its eighth title fight.

Guests say the cow was so excited during the ceremony it couldn't stop urinating.

A Buddhist monk officiated at the ceremony in Ban Kuanmai, Suratthanee province.

Both animals were dressed in red garments. A party followed the ceremony.

Bull owner Suwat Kaewsuksai told the Thai Daily News: ''I promised him that after he had won his eighth title fight I would find him a girlfriend. I have spent over 16,000 baht (about £260) arranging this wedding."

According to Thai tradition newly-weds are taken to a bedroom where they can consummate the marriage, but Mr Kaewsuksai says the animals will have to wait as the bull has an important fight on February 7.

''There is a purse of 1m baht (over £16,000) for the winner and I'm worried that if I leave them together now my bull will lose all his energy and will not win the fight," he said.
