Even when I started in the late 60's, you could win a rodeo and keep going for a month on your winnings. With todays guys, if they are not already rich, have to depend on sponsors. They have to cater to the sponsors. Back in our day (dang I makin us sound old now) I think you felt more freedom. Todays guys with sponsors are forced to keep winning at the big ones to keep their sponsors. Where we could make a living going to a few big ones but mostly mediocre ones. -- RODEO RAMBLINGS

Another thing I forgot to mention... todays guys made the limited rodeo rule so they could be home more... where when I was going we would leave in around the end May and stay gone until after Labor Day, and because that was the prime time of rodeo back then compared to today, we dredded seeing Labor Day come around. - I went to the first NFR in Dallas as a spectator. Went with my Dad and Grandad. It was funny because that year I had made a little over $5,000.00 goin' to little punkin rollins and have never heard of Harry Tomkins. The next year I went to a party he had after our college rodeo.
