Subject: Steer roping finals moving

The National Finals Steer Roping is returning to Oklahoma and will be named in honor of Clem McSpadden, a ProRodeo Hall of Fame member, who died in 2008 at the age of 82.

An announcer and National Finals Rodeo general manager, McSpadden announced at the West Texas Fair & Rodeo for several years.

In addition to his rodeo prowess, McSpadden served many years in the Oklahoma Legislature and in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Guthrie was home to the NFSR from 1984-2000 before moving to Amarillo (2001-05) and then to Hobbs, N.M., for the past three years.

The NFSR has been held in Oklahoma 25 times in the event's 50-year history.

The annual championship features the top 15 Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association steer ropers.
