Subject: The world has changed for sure. Was in Imperial, Nebraska in 1975. During intermission they had Dolly Parton, Porter Wagner, Tommy Cash and Mel Tillis. After the rodeo they had a dance at that little fair with a stage set up. About an hour after the dance started, next thing you knew, all 4 of them were up on stage singing for the dance. Bet that don't happen much anymore. Where is that time machine so we can all go back to the good ol days.
In reply to: Hap 's message, "Remember the good old days when there was a rodeo with a concert thrown in? It's dang sure getting more and more to becoming a concert with a rodeo thrown in. If I was going to pay to attend a rodeo, 9.9 times out of ten they couldn't pay me to suffer through the concert, but the cost of it would be added on to the ticket price. That's why I enjoy the little county fair rodeos that the PRCA leaders are overlooking more and more." on 16:02:32 04/12/07 Thu

  • We're gettin' ready for our Memorial Day weekend rodeo. That's all we will have, a rodeo. The only way we can have one is with sponsors money. We sell sponsorships that get a ticket to our VIP area where they get free beer and food. We can sell out this area and only about 1/3 of them watch the rodeo. GM tickets are 5 bucks and we have empty seats. Ours is a CPRA show with $1,200.00 added. We are having to bribe our own members to even have a grand entry. Come on down if you like punkin' rollins. I make it a family event for my family and have to buy 12 tickets and the clowns stay at the ranch in my bunk house. Would you say that qualifys as a 'country' rodeo? • I am getting flash backs of some from the old days. When the timed event cattle arrived at intermission. Or they were still putting up the portable chutes during the grand entry. And after all that they inducted him into the Hall. Back in those days though, they hired girls to stand pivot for the grand entry. Then decided it was cheaper to add $50 and have a barrel race with the ground rule to stand pivot in the grand entry. (NT) -- Varmit, 16:47:23 04/13/07 Fri
