There are tracks like that all over the country, I imagine. I know there are/have been some around here. When I was trying to sell my TB broodmare, I would get calls all the time from people that didn't speak much English - wanting to know if she could race! She was off the track, but 17 years old, and done nothing but raise babies for at least 10 years. And running on a real track with Animal Welfare rules, etc., is hard enough on them. I was at lots of matched horse races at an early age because my brother-in-law rode lots of those horses and it was my job to cool them down afterwards because he would already be on another horse. One thing I remember real well is that even though some of those race horses were a hand full for a 12 year old kid, right after running, I was happy to stay clear of the activity close to the track. You should have seen some of the brawls over those races and they usually involved those guys who didn't speak english all that well. - Things always went peaceful down here. But back then I don't even remember any spanish in our area. Think it was in the late 70 or 80's before they started showing up.
