Subject: ZD, to answer your earlier question, no, they don't move the rig because all they're doing is drilling to different formations and each formation has it's own tubing within the casing. Each formation has it's own meter and gas samples are collected off each one because gas not all gas is created equal, with some having a higher BTU rating than others. It's sold by volumn, then the BTU factor is figured in, so a million cubic feet from one well will pay different than the same amount from another, which makes it possible for a lesser producing well with a high BTU to make more money than some. As for fracking, that's just setting off an explosive charge down hole to create cracks and the gas is produced from cracks rather than just from a pocket. That was not part of my job and I'm no expert, but hear guys talk about it.
In reply to: Hap 's message, "They mention 600 wells drilled in the area and up there they have fought against that for lots of years. They don't want them, same as Ted Kennedy doesn't want the wind chargers ruining his view. Within a hundred mile radius (approx) of my house there are 35,000 wells and drilling more every day. Within the next 20 years there is going to be twice that many. It's accepted here and most everybody makes a living off it, either directly or indirectly. They began fracking back in the 60's and no telling how many well fracking busisnesses are here." on 23:16:51 05/07/06 Sun
