In reply to: Silhouette 's message, "*She doesn't even look at him again as she focuses completely on the colt, whatever species it is*" on 09:26:20 01/21/02 Mon

Perhaps you are mistaken, Silhouette. Are all colts, just horses?

)colt of drake blood hears the rustling of shadows. immediately turns head and looks upon the creature that is stalking him. with a snort, a blast of pure fire is released from its mouth towards the one that is disturbing the peace(

Use your 2-D, allowing the fire to pass you without pain, then Shift to Shadow and go for the underbelly first, then the neck! Dont mess up, or it may be your last!

She lunges to the drake's side through the shadow of a tree, he sees nothing until she changes back to her Shadow Dragon form. This time the change holds little pain, merely feels like the lifting of a cloak. She folds back her crest for speed and strikes, snakelike, at the soft underbelly of the colt, her talons digging in to hold her quarry in place.

She slices a gash, then the moment the wound is created, she strikes for the throat, closing her teeth and tearing. Life-blood sprinkles her brow and flows over her muzzle, but she pays it no mind. She uses her head as a brace to keep the drake from trying to lower it's chin and bite the back of her neck, and begins to grind her teeth in deep, smooth strokes.

Meanwhile, she looses one talon from the side of the drake and thrusts it through the gash she has made in the belly, lengthening the wound and allowing the entrails to spill out. The drake thrashes its tail and hits her squarely in the side, causing a welt and knocking the wind out of her, but she continues to dig out its innards and shake its neck, until the lifeblood spills out, the neck breaks and most of what was inside is out. The drake flops limply on the ground. She has minor abrasions on her chest and side from the scrabbling talons of the drake, but she is mostly unharmed aside from the welt.*

Well, well. Work is finished, yet like a Western would do! You tore the thing to shreds...not what I would do, but good enough. You still havent learned all the traits and grasped the instincts of the Shadow within you.
+ appears once again and looks upon the creature town apart + touches it with his talon, the scarlet blood upon his frozen scales + immediately, the colt revives itself, to the point that it is perfectly healthy and a scratch had never been upon it +
Never go for a direct kill like a Western would. Cut and slice where it hurts most, bleeds a lot, but allows the creature to suffer. Its instinct - you'll understand one day.
+ watches the colt pose for flame + as fire is spat at him, he leaps forward and flares out his wings to the extent that they only level him + with flick of his tail, black scales fall toward the beast + talons slice the neck and legs, as well as the belly + fire stops + blackness is seen near the beast, the Shalafi presenting the injured + turns to 2-D and suddenly, the creature stops breathing + reappears behind her +
That is what you must learn..yet good job with your first kill. You are hurt...
+ talon of black, ice-cold scales touches the wounds upon the dragoness + crystal-like nails, covered in blood still, seem to close them, the wounds gone + looks to her, a sparkle in his red and black eyes +
Anything else you wish to know or practice?
+ jewels radiate off light and glare into the dragoness's fragile eyes +

~Resurrect this colt for me, Shalafi, if you would...so that I can slaughter it /correctly/. Then I think I might like to start magic and sorcery...~

You will have yet another chance to kill, but not at this instant. And you will learn the magic also, but lets stay on task. You must learn to defeat something larger than yourself by only using ground attacks. Now... you should have large spikes either on your tail or on your wings. These should be used quite a bit when the enemy is larger than yourself. The underbelly is where you want to pierce. The neck is the last place you want to attack - let the creature become weak through blood-loss. Use 2-D to get away from powers, ONLY. Let your body take some of the physical damage - you have me to heal your wounds for you, until I teach you that. And look for weaknesses... Ready? I suggest you get ready - after this, you will be faced with an opponant that we both must fight to beat. But until then...go.
+ steps backwards and watches as he works + this time, an ice drake appears (similar to dragon, but has no arms - hands are on wings - and are smaller, but larger than you - hehe) and looks directly at the dragoness +

*Grins demurely, eyes cold and hard, locked on the Shalafi* ~I didn't know I had those...~ (OOC: Don't make me change my characteristics again, please).

*Her eyes lock back on the ice drake, and she turns to shadow, the feel of the scales flowing over her body like that of donning a cloak; she enters the shadow of the tree again and watches the ice drake step forward, then blow a cautionary breath of ice at her. It passes right through, and she turns solid and lunges for the creature's side and belly, turning to the side and letting her spikes rip long gashes in it's body. It roars in pain and tries to ice her again, and she is not so quick this time in changing, and a blast hits her full in the chest, chilling her lungs. She allows her body heat and movement to melt and break the ice as she whirls behind the creature and slashes it on the back with one talon, then reaches around to it's side and makes another slash in the belly.

It turns around, a little slower this time, to face her, and she turns 2-D in anticipation as it attempts blow after blow of ice in her direction. She dodges under it, using her smaller stature and agility to her advantage, and as she darts out from underneath, flicks up her tail and embeds the tines in the creature's belly. It is now bleeding heavily from several wounds, and staggers after her.

In her boldness, she has gained a few bite wounds, but nothing too serious, minor punctures, as well as the cold remaining in her lungs from the ice blast. She hisses in satisfaction as the creature staggers and trips, falling forward and wasting most of its energy trying to stand up. It manages a pathetic breath of ice her way, which she simply sidesteps, and then stands, heaving. It turns and tries to totter away, the whites of its eyes showing as it realizes she is the superior predator. It flaps its wings once, twice, then several times, and manages to lift off the air a little. She darts after it, grabs its tail in a bonecrushing hold with jaws and teeth, and throws it to the ground.

It lies there on it's side, unable to do anything other than gasp and stare at her, eyes rolling in terror. Calmly, she carves her name in flowing, bleeding script in it's exposed side with one bloody talon. She licks her talon thoroughly and watches the creature glare and gasp as it coughs blood and finally dies, its eye still fixed on her in death.
