Subject: UVC - General update

It seems now that most UVC companies have gone under (see below) - UVC Developments (Pembroke Developments) has gone into compulsory liquidation.  (This was the UVC company that was dealing with the £1m development with Portsonachan).  I understand that there is no chance for any of the creditors to get any moneys due.  The papers remain with the Official Receiver in Manchester.

I'm not really surprised.  With the poor management skills shown by Liz & David, it was bound to happen.  I was told the story when Liz made herself responsible for getting new cheque books (which of course kept running out).  So, come some Fridays (pay day), time (and tempers and money) was spent trying to get enough money into account(s) where there were enough cheques.  So, money flowed so easily between accounts.

Did you hear the one about the time (one of these cheque-less days) that a cheque book was found.  Phew!  The cheques were done  ....  until - it was discovered that it was for a (so very) similar account (that no-one knew of) and that had no money in it.  Woops!

I don't think that UVC invented the term 'rubber cheques' - but they certainly did a good job in making sure that the expression remained alive, especially for their employees.

And something completely and totally separate - not connected in the slightest to the enforced demise of UVC Developments - I hear (through the grapevine, of course) that the Parkers are looking at opening a THIRD hotel.  Can this really be Portsonachan doing so well?

This super-hero and ultra-efficient husband-and-wife management team have done it again.  The vast Portsonachan empire grows ...  The phoenix continues to rise ... and rise ...
