I would like indebt information on the effects that music has on the {spirit, mind, body, dua, soul,prayer etc..}. I would also like to know if the eye sees something bad for example: TV, romance on soap operas,people on the streets doing something that should be done in private {Kissing}, what effects does that have as well. Please if there is any indebt information that I can get it would be greatly appreciated. If the information is too much to put on the question board please send it in the form of email.

As Salaamu Alaikoum,

Praise be to Allah

Musical instruments are haraam and singing is haraam as has been answered here on this board many times. Allah speaks of the evil of these two things:

�And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing) to mislead (men) from the path of Allaah�� [Luqmaan 31:6]

�[Allaah said to Iblees:] And befool them gradually those whom you can among them with your voice (i.e. songs, music, and any other call for Allaah�s disobedience)�� [al-Israa� 17:64]

Allah also says,

�Do you then wonder at this recitation (the Qur�aan)?
And you laugh at it and weep not, Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing)� [al-Najm 53:59-61]

A believing Muslim never questions or doubts what Allah says. He says that singing and music leads man astray so thus it does. And there is no proof greater than the Proof of Allah.
