Assalamu Alaikum,

A friend of mine is very good with the tajweed of the quraan mashaAllah. He would like to teach the quraan to kids at a local community, and just moved down here.

His question was-Since he does not have any other career, and has to make a living here, can he charge money on those he teaches? He is afraid if he does this "He will be selling the quraan." He drives 50 miles to the community, and 50 miles back. So he has lots of expenses. What is a reasonable price he can charge if it is permissionable?
