As salaamu alaykum,
I went to the imam at my masjid, but he said my husband has to call, or atleast be present in a 3 way call to undergo counseling. My husband and i where married in June in the prison, by a brother incarcerated, and my wali was a brother in prison also. My husband has started to throw stuff in my face regarding my past (before we where married), and he says things such as, He has to humble me, and take me off the pedestal I'm on, and i dont have the right to speak to him, in a certain way, and i need to just listen and stop being who i am, he says i am western influenced (we are both american). He also says things about me being dishonest, which I have not been with him. He is saying that all our issues are to be blamed on me, when i make sure to make all my prayers, study, and protect myself from any evil deeds or thoughts. I think he wants me to have a different personality, which i dont know that i can change. i want to just annull the marriage,if it is Allahs will because i am starting to doubt myself, as a person. allahu alim

What steps do i have to go thru to get my marriage annuled? My husband is in prison, and very verbally abusive, causing me to be depressed.

Salaam,

Again, whomever married you is who you need to be dealing with and talking to. We do not handle these types of situations for one thing, what wali would ever allow the woman he is guardian of to marry a man who is incarcerated and unable to fulfill his role as a husband.. so again sister.. take this to whomever married you. We do not deal with issues such as this.
