Selamun Alejkum dear scholars. I would like to ask tha is it permissable to sing the Kur'an when we finish the burial of somebody. I heard that it is just makrooh (ont good) but if you do it you will not be punished

Sekamun Alejkum

As Salaamu Alaikoum,

Praise be to Allah.

The basic principle regarding acts of worship is to refrain from everything except that which is proven to be enjoined by Allaah or by His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

There is no evidence that the Prophet(saw) used to recite, read, or sing Quran at the graves of dead Muslims not when his daughters died or any of the Sahabah. Nor did the Sahabah do such a thing. So therefore we should avoid acts such as this that do not originate from the Sunnah..for again..all acts of worship must be proven to be enjoined by Allaah or his Messenger(saw).

The Prophet(saw) said, "Anyone who introduces something new into this religion of ours will have it rejected.." [Bukhari and Muslim]

AND ALLAH KNOWS BEST

Laila Nasheeba
