Asalama Aleikum,

Is it permissable in Islam to run a business that provides such services as food (pig meat; also chicken, turkey, etc. that are not slaughtered properly)? Generally speaking, is it permissable to run a business of any kind that provides services that are Makrough or where the services offered can be rendered haraam upon the customer's use of the service?

Thank You,
SisterSamee

As salaamu Alaikoum,

Praise be to Allah.

First of all, selling Pork is not undesired.. it is Haraam.
As Muslims we are prohibited to sell anything that is haraam to others:

Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘Allaah has cursed the Jews because fat was forbidden to them, but they sold it and took its price. When Allaah forbids something he also forbids its price.’” (Reported by Imaam Ahmad, 2546).

Chicken and turkey are not haraam to sale as long as they were not killed in an unlawful manner as defined by Allah:

"Forbidden to you (for food) are: Al-Maytatah (the dead animals - cattle-beast not slaughtered), blood, the flesh of swine, and the meat of that which has been slaughtered as a sacrifice for others than Allâh, or has been slaughtered for idols, etc., or on which Allâh's Name has not been mentioned while slaughtering, and that which has been killed by strangling, or by a violent blow, or by a headlong fall, or by the goring of horns - and that which has been (partly) eaten by a wild animal - unless you are able to slaughter it (before its death) and that which is sacrificed (slaughtered) on AnNusub[] (stone altars)..." [Surat 5:3]

AND ALLAH KNOWS BEST
