Asalamu Alykum

I wanted to know what Al Bara'at means i heard a person saying that it is another name for Surah At-Tawbah.

Also where is the proof that it is called Al Bara'at?

This Surah is known by two names -- AT-TAUBAH and AL-BARA'AT. It is called AT-TAUBAH because it enunciates the nature of taubah (repentance) and mentions the conditions of its acceptance.(vv. 102. 118). The second name BARA' AT (Release) is taken from the first word of the Surah.The names of any surat of al Quran is ( TAWQEEFYYAH),,it means ,muslims they took the names of the surats from the prophet (P B UP H),generation after generation ,tell it arrive us.
Al GASSAS in his book ( AHKAM AL QURAN),has named this sura as surat BARA'AT..
