Watching cartoons on T.V is not allowed in Islam becuse it is pictures which are hand-drawn by man. Is this true?

If this is true, does this apply to playing games e.g playstation, nintendo, ect which have cartoons. Pictures of men and women ecpecially women half naked on the playstation.

Basically my question is, Firstly cartoons on the t.v for the kids to watch is this allowed in Islam because we know that these cartoons, that are pictures that are drawn by hand by man. e.g Tom and Jerry.

Second question is, are playstations which have pictures of male and females fighting which are cartoons, is it allowed in islam?

As Saalamu Alaikoum,

Praise be to Allah.

When people come to you saying something is haraam they aree supposed to be able to show you the direct evidence either for the Quran or the Sunnah. Allah has made the haraam clear to us. If the person can not show you the evidence to prove what they say to be haraam then tell them to keep quiet.

It is not my job to show you their proof because I never made the allegation.

Inshallah there is nothing wrong with watching cartoons as long as the cartoons do not contain things such as sex and the haraam in them.

Islam is a simple way of life and few things are haraam for us. People make Islam hard for themselves. The prophet(saw) tells us to seek moderation in our religion and avoid being extremists [Bukhari and Muslim]. And as Muslims we have to avoid making things Haraam that Allah did not make so for to do so is shirk.

AND ALLAH KNOWS BEST
