salam,
i have many questions that i would like to ask.
firstly i was just wondering, what is the difference between a sunni and shia? why are there so many sects and why do we all have different beliefs?what do the shia's belive that differ from the sunni's?

secondly, if you like a person of the opposite sex and they are practising islam and you know it is wrong to be "seeing them", is it possible to do your nikkah without any one in the family knowing until it is time to get married "officially". do we have to tell the family that we are already married in the nikkah sense when the official wedding occurs? do we have to have sex or can we wait until we marry when everyone knows?

if you like somebody who is muslim and would like to marry them but your family and parents don't approve of them because they are not rich or educated or have a broken family yet they themselves are good people, can we still marry them?will we be commitiing sin because we are going against our parents?but arn't they the wrong ones because they are judging and being petty.

another question i would like to ask is can we read namaz with perfume on or with mousse or hair products in our hair becaue some pefumes and hair products contain alcohol and how can we pray if alcohol is present on us?

lastly, are we allowed to "have fun". this may sound stupid but i was just wondering, is it ok for people to do things like bowling or go ice skating or go to amusement parks?

thank you
i hope these arnt too many questions to answer.

khudahafis

As Saalamu Alaikoum,

Praise be to Allah.

First of all to read about the diffence of the Shiaa and those who follow the Quran and sunnah go to this link:

http://laila.aresworld.net/shiite.html

In regards to marriage, marriage must be done by the laws of Allah. No marriage is valid without a wali, 2 witnesses, and a mahr. Also marriages must be announced.

You have no business meeting or even talking to a man without the approval, knowledge or consent of your wali. What you are doing is an act of Zina and you need to fear Allah. I suggest you go to our website and listen to the lectures given on Zina. To access the lectures go to:

http://laila.aresworld.net/lectcures.html

Also, perfume and cologne do not break ones wudhu or annul ones salat. In regards to alcohol, the alcohol used in perfume and these things is not the kind of alcohol used to drink and get drunk from.

In regards to having fun, we need to spend more time learning about our religion and fearing Allah instead of wasting time having fun. Having fun is what leads to Zina which is a serious problem amongst our Muslim youths. I suggest you spend more time learning about your way of life instead of indulging in the fun of this world..Participate in the fun of Live Learning about Islam by joining the classes at our website.

The Prophet(saw) said 2 things that we waste are: Time and good Health [Bukhari and Muslim]

AND ALLAH KNOWS BEST
