Bismihi-Ta'ala,

As-salamu aleiki wa rahmatollahi wa barakatuhu,

I have been married for about three years already and have a nice daughter, masha'allah. But my wife, who has been brought up in a family, which adheres to European way of life, refuses to perform salaat and wear a muslima head cover, as prescribed by Allah and His Messenger. I have been reading to her books on the foregoing issues; though she accepts these rulings mentally, she is too reluctant to start following Islam due to the society she had lived in.

My question is, how can I bring her closer to Islam?

Praise be to Allah.

Unfortunately, this is the price one must pay when he marries a woman who is not Muslim. Allah says lawful are women of the people of the book as long as they are Chaste women. Also they should be women who truly believe in the oneness of Allah and show some interest in Islam as the true religion. Women such as this are the women who eventually end up embracing Islam. If she is a woman lacking in either of those things, then the man ends up having problems such as you are having.

All we can suggest you do is to keep teaching her but realize that only Allah makes Muslims...

This question should have been considered before marrying the non-muslim woman...
