As salaamu alaikum

Can you please explain the difference between a nasheed and music? I was told that nasheeds were ok to listen too as long as they don't contain musical intruments but music itself is haram. I just want to make sure because I enjoy listening to them and playing them for my children. It helps us to think on Allah.

Praise be to Allah.

Nasheeds are just Islamic songs that praise Allah and do not involve Instruments other than drums or percussion.

We play Nasheeds at our website in between the classes cause the children enjoy them at our website as well as many of the adults.

The Nasheeds we play are from Radioislam.com and are all beautiful songs sung in different styles, arabic, malaysian and hip hop, and all of them involved nothing but drums and beautiful voices of harmony. And they all praise Allah.
