In reply to: Muslimah 's message, "Missed Prayers, etc." on 06:40:16 06/07/02 Fri

As saalamu Alaikoum,

Praise be to Allah.

The only prayers we are allowed to make up that we missed are prayers that we missed because we Sincerely forgot to pray it, or prayers we missed because we were asleep:

"If someone forgets the prayer, he should pray it when he
remembers it." (Related by al-Bukhari and Muslim.)

"There is no negligence while one is asleep but
forgetfulness occurs when one is awake. If one of you
forgets the prayer or sleeps through its time, then he should perform the salah when he recalls it." If one falls
unconscious, then he need not repeat the salah, unless he regains his consciousness with enough time to purify himself and perform the salah within its proper time. [Bukhari and Muslim]

So for all the prayers you deliberately neglected to make, you can only seek repentance to Allah and hope he forgives you for that. But there is nothing you can do to make up for them.

In regards to combining prayers, You can combine your salats while traveling...however if you will be living in this new city as your home then you should perform the salats at their perscribed time.

When praying a person should pray by placing a sutra in front of the. A sutra is something to mark off the passing in front of you. Also the prophet(saw) used to push back an animal that passed in front of him:

Narrated Abdullah
The Prophet used to get a Harba (piece of wood) planted in front of him (as a Sutra) and pray behind it. [Bukhari 1.477]

Amr ibn Shu’ayb narrated from his father that his grandfather said: “We stopped with the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in Thaniyyat Adhaakhir and the time for prayer came, so he prayed facing a wall which lay in the direction of the qiblah, and we were behind him. A lamb came and tried to pass in front of him and he kept pushing it back until its belly was pushed up against the wall, then it passed behind him.” [narrated by Abu Dawood, 708; al-Albaani said in Saheeh Abi Dawood, it is hasan saheeh, 652].

Finally, in regards to a woman traveling, No women should travel for more than ONE DAY without a Mahram:

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “No woman should travel without a mahram.” This was narrated by Ahmad from the hadeeth of ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) in his Musnad.

AND ALLAH KNOWS BEST
