I chose a variety of banners that included all graphics, to pictures and cominations of all. I hope you enjoy them, for they are:
1. http://www.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/olympics/2002/
This banner has a wide range of colors, primary and pastels, that are mixed in blocks and fades and would seem to be inviting to a wide range of people. It also has two skiiers, one down hill, the other a jumper, in a graphic format, with a ripple effect eminating from them to show movement. Overall, a pretty cool banner.
2. http://www.bigskyresort.com
This banner was interesting because it scrolled a picture of the entire resort from top to bottom. While that picture was moving, there were four black and white photo clips on the bottom left that showed various activities at the resort (i.e. skiing, ice skating, etc.) The buttons/links on this page are also interesting, for they are extremely subtle. They blend with the background, and only have little "highlights" on the sides to make them stand out.
3. www.chansimage.com/
Has a really cool font and color scheme on a banner that has natural objects (rocks, flowers, grass) imposed overtop of it. The writing is also manipulated really well. I would say that this is geared towards a more liberal audience.
4. www.coolhomepages.com/newstatic//Banners/3.html
This is one is for lifeMinders.com. What really makes it stand out is the movement of the words and the vibrant color scheme on top of a black background. The words move, and blur to make them appear moving fast, which also has to do with the content of the banner.
5. www.coolhomepages.com/newstatic//Banners/7.html
The words come out at you and starts with a pseudo bulls eye made with human bodies. It then changes to an outline of a weather map in the background with key words flashing larger and larger. It is for directhit.com
6. www.coolhomepages.com/newstatic//Banners/25.html
This is for planet Rx and it has a cool angle with a shadow coming off of it giving it depth.
7. www.coolhomepages.com/newstatic//Banners/34.html
For the New York Times; only 2/3 of it changes, saying that the world has changed in the last 10 minutes. Nice strong colors.
