I found the same thing with my swing. I am a stocky right hand dominant golfer who plays all 2 handed sports left handed. This means my front arm and hand (right) is still too strong in a neutral position. I have to slightly weaken even the neutral grip - especially for the longer clubs as it is hard to keep this strong hand quiet.

If I keep my feet planted and quiet this front hand my drives are nice and straight and long enough (230-250). This prevents nearly all of my pulls and hooks.

I've tried Remington's method of the downswing feeling like a push but my coordination with the left hand throwing motion is terrible and I have to play with more of a pulling motion with my dominant arm and hand to find the center of the club face. Wish I was a right hander at times because I could utilize my upper body and right arm strength. I'd like to give his method a serious try but I have resigned to the pulling feeling.

I've spent a little time on the lawn wrapping my right thumb around the grip (like you hold a pool cue) and find my swing speed increases slightly. Has anyone here ever played with this method? Please advise.

DG
