The longer clubs are actually lighter. The wedges are the heaviest. The ball position being forward makes it harder to hide the problem. Also the flatter swing plane. For a long time I had compensated by playing the ball further back than recommended.

You are probably preaking down through impact with these as well. If you hit lofted clubs correctly you will get a (relatively) low and rising flight with them the same as you would with a 3 iron. I did not realize this until I played with Scott at the IMA school. His pitching wedge had the starting trajectory of my 5 iron. It then rose higher and landed soft.

I found I was just better at coordinating the short club so that the bottom of the swing happend at the ball but it was still the case that the effective loft at impact was higher than it should have been.

At Compusport I thought I was hitting well before the class. I was shocked when I saw the video.

If you stand near a pro when they are hitting, you will feel the impact of their club with the ground through yout feet!!
First you hear the click (contact) and then you feel the thud (through your feet).
