If you address the ball and from that position immediately pull up with the right arm (elbow toward the hip) while extending the left against the pull force you will go to maximum wrist cock as you said (but you haven't even begun a swing yet). The shaft should now be parallel to the target line. Be careful to keep the back of the left wrist flat at this point.

From the position before and thinking ONLY of holding the lever tension swing up and then swing down (elbow to point in front of hip). Think ONLY of holding the levering tension!! I think you will be suprised by the feel.

This is the result of the 'whip' from sustaining the smaller radius longer into the swing and I think a little anatomical help as well.

Just think about pointing your left arm at the ball and you will stay on plane.

Try just swinging in space first. For me the 'aiming' necessary to hit the ball was a distraction from feeling the body actions and results at first. As a result I just swung until I could recognize the 'feel' and then moved it to contact with a spot and then to contact with an object. Finally I hit balls after working on the feel (and comparing to video) for a week.

It is VERY easy (at least for me) to loose the focus on maintaining the lever tension and the results will not be the same if it eases off. When you maintain the tension you may need to move your ball position forward as the club will be releasing to the ball later.
