He spots his wife and daughter almost instantly, distracted from the noisey rat-and-woman incident. Tearing his eyes away from the messy scene, the king hurries towards the Queen, grinning rather sheepishly.

"Evening, love," he greets, lifting Serenity's hand to kiss it politely in a nice, ballrom-type form of greeting. "Splendid. You two look wonderful, Serenity. How's my little girl enjoying her very first ball? Is it all you expected?"

Behind him, a wingli, a rat, the prince, his friend Alorwyn and a group of terrified people stand with mild surprise. The 'volunteer' bouncer glares consitantly towards the rat's owner, Briar, and does not let go of the rat's tail no matter how much it squirmed.
