If you play with VASSAL/VSQL (with the log moves
preference on), all the moves you make are recorded on
the log. This is very helpful to resolve any and all
hex-movement questions. In FTF play, extensive use of
the "track" markers are usually sufficient.

Trouble with the optional rule is that it makes for many
other problems during play ... problems that ASL (which
expands on this concept) deals with through the creation
of quite a few additional fire rules, including multiple
rates of fire and "final protective fire".

The great advantage of the basic SL system is that even
though you are moving each infantry unit/stack separately,
the defense gets to choose which target they prefer to fire
upon, as if all the moves were occuring simultaneously and
the defending units were able to identify the most
threatening of all the enemy manuever threats.

The SL design concept is very good and results in a
smoother and simpler game system.

If you really feel the need to use that optional rule
(most players in this community do not use it) I would
suggest (add heart-stopping shudder here!) that you try
ASL. It is a much better implementation of that concept.

Enjoy ... and I hope you'llstay with "us SL players"!
