Subject: LOS/2nd Level

Hi

Sorry if this gets a little long...

Just when I thought I had the hang of this, I played Gamma 0 last night and totally confused myself over LOS regarding 2 story buildings and hills etc.

I booted up VASL this morning to try to clear things up with the LOS tool but now I've confused myself over terminology, too. :)

So.

What is "Level 2" in a building, exactly?
I thought it just meant 'a building with a second floor', but VASL offers Level 1 *and* Level 2 as additional elevations. Is that just a redundant distinction?

LOS from VASL's Level 1 seems to work the way I thought 'ground level' should work, and Level 2 works the way I thought 'second floor' should work.

Add in the fact that SL has the '2nd Level' marker for units upstairs and I find the rural terrain LOS example a bit confusing/incomplete and I now have no confidence about what I should be doing. :)

An example - firing from upstairs (Level 2?) in 3N2, what LOS is there along that 3J4 to 3E7 firelane?
I think it's all visible except for the dead hex in 3I5 behind the woods, is that right?

I might well be making this more confusing for myself than I need to.

Cheers

G
