First, the empty "bracket" in the NIT's website (www.nit.org) show 40 teams.

Second, Championship Week was overall very good to the Titans chances - many wins and losses that will help.

Third, Helps vs. Hurts
Helps:
Utah St wins

Hurts:
CMU wins? (I thought that Detroit @ CMU was a nice "local" match-up) However, maybe Detroit @ Kent is just as appealing to the NIT. My concern is Ohio State and, more particularly a Kent @ Ohio State match-up. IF Ohio State wins the Big 10 and get an auto NCAA and don't bump Butler off the Bubble - then perhaps OSU win would help a Detroit @ Kent match-up.

Fourth, "rumored/reported" first round NIT match-ups:
Drexel @ St. Johns.
UIC @ DePaul.
Texas Tech would get 3 home games.
Nova and G-town have told the NIT they will accept invitations.

Fifth, "local" match-ups for the Titans:
Western Michigan (poor home attendance?)
Valpo
Kent St.
Ohio St.
DePaul (possible match-up with UIC would put the Blue Demons on the opposite side of the bracket)
Iowa
Minnesota
UIC (typically teams from the same conference are put on opposite sides of the bracket)

I'll provide two more updates today. The first when the final RPI is posted and the second after the NCAA teams are selected.
