Subject: am i pregnant? Author: mindy (scared) [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 12/14/06 4:08pm i had sex 6 days ago. i was going to take the morning after pill but i got my periods on monday. i had them for 3 days and now its friday and they just stopped. does this mean im pregnant? because my period usually goes for 7 or 8 days and its never stopped or anything like this before. im only 16 and i dont want a baby so if i am prgnant how doi stop it? is there any other way of not having a baby other that an abortion? please help! What you experienced sounds like it could have been implantation bleeding but it's not a definate sign usually women have implantation bleeding from 7 to 10 days post conception but there are exceptions and some women don't have that kind of spotting at all and can be pregnant. How long are your cycles usually? When was your last period and when was the next officially due? Anything you do to 'get rid' of your baby once conceived is in an abortion. Short of taking the morning after pill i am not sure what you would be able to do since it's obviously too late for that now. First things first though you have to find out if you actually are pregnant or not. I became pregnant at a similar age and was forced to have an abortion by my mother. Please don't take abortion lightly that first abortion affected me for the rest of my life. It didn't solve anything and it certainly didn't teach me anything except that i wanted something i could never have - my baby back. That longing and confusion and emptiness affected the decisions i made for myself after that and i became somewhat self destrustive it's not an easy road. Granted neither is having a baby at a young age either but there are things like adoption avaiable. I'm sure the other ladies here can elaborate on that side of things. In any case i wish you luck. If you're concerned about being pregnant you can take a home pregnancy test (they sell for 7-12 dollars at just about any grocery store/pharmacy) and these are usually pretty accurate after 10 days from the date you think you might have conceived. You can also visit a local Pregnancy Resource Center and they will give you a test for free and also give you any support you need. Unfortunately, Luka's right. If you are pregnant there is no way to 'unpregnant' yourself except by various fashions of abortion and each one objectively ends the life of another human being. There is, however, more help and support than you might imagine for you in dealing with an unplanned pregnancy, even if you aren't wanting to enter parenthood right now. Just know that you have other choices besides abortion if you are pregnant and wish to pursue them. Please feel more than welcome to post anytime about anything. If you had a period when you were supposed to and it wasn't just a bit of spotting then chances are you are not pregnant. Do yourself a favour and take a test it will be able to tell you if you are indeed pregnant by now. By my calculations you ovulated around the 29th of November which was before you had unprotected sex so it's unlikely that youre pregant from that time. I worked out that your cycle length is 28 days so you are most fertile from about 9 days into your cycle untill about day 16. Don't worry so much hey, just take a test and you'll probably be relieved to see that it's negative. If you don't have the money to buy a test the ladies on here can direct you to the nearest crisis pregnancy center in your area that can give you a test for free. Good luck! They do offer them for free, and the services are confidential. Unfortunately I became sexually active at a fairly young age, and I never thought my parents knew either, but I know my mom pretty much knew, it was just unspoken. If you do find out you are pregnant, it may turn things topsy turvy for a while, but the only way I've seen in really "ruin" other people's lives is if they allow it to. That's a choice each person makes. It's far more common for people to love their new family member once all of the issues are worked through. It just takes time. As for your periods, all sorts of environmental factors can affect them, including stress. I would just recommend the pregnancy test. If it is negative and you do not have a normal cycle next month, it would be a good idea to have it checked out by a doctor, but chances are good that everything is fine. Have you thought about what you are doing from here on out in regards to sexual activity? Obviously this is creating some stress in your life and there are far worse things than pregnancy, believe me.

There's no real way of telling for sure unless you get some sort of test done. If you just had your period, you won't be able to tell by that. You can contact your local pregnancy center and they can probably offer or guide you in getting another test performed, such as a blood test. With a blood test, they are able to tell within days if you are pregnant. If you find that you are pregnant, you have found a wonderful support board and we would love to help you.
