In reply to: D Kohl 's message, "Small Yorkies - Beware of owls, hawks, eagles, etc." on 13:16:14 02/22/02 Fri

On Monday of this week I let my 4 year old Chihuahua, Maggie, out of the house to go to the bathroom, as I do every morning at around 7:30 in the morning. About 30 minutes later I went to let Maggie back in to leave and go to work. Maggie had disappeared - no where to be found!! We live in the county with pastureland and we strongly believe an owl or hawk took Maggie as prey!! Maggie was not one to go far from the house and never went into the street. We also live on a dead in road, where there is very little traffic to which she could have been taking by someone!! Especially at 7:30 in the morning!!! We have put up signs just in case to let people know she is missing, but we have little hope of any response. We have also looked all through the pasture and around trees to see if we could find any remains to give Maggie the proper burial she deserves, but have been unsuccessful! Thank you for providing this website, I have looked up preying birds on the search engine and have been unsuccessful in finding any information on these birds preying on small dogs! It is helpful to hear other people’s stories to know that this does really happen!! Maggie was our baby and we miss her so much!!! She was a part of our family and now our home feels so empty!!! To those of you who are reading this e-mail and have a missing animal, know that there are people out there who do know how you feel and that pets are not just animals - they are one of your children that share a piece of your heart and need love and family just like humans!!! Maggie took a piece of my heart with her and will never be forgotten!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
