Spiritual Notebook 8

These statements should be written in a 180 page spiral notebook (leave a blank line between statements – write on both sides of a page). This should leave many more pages free for more statements to be written in that notebook as you continue reading, learning, and developing as you go through life.

Having a notebook with vital statements and important Scriptures written in it can give you an effective way to keep your mind refreshed and occupied as you look at it repeatedly throughout the day.

--------------------------=

Be sensitive and spontaneous to make the most of opportunities as soon as they appear.

Look for small tasks that no one else wants to do.

Make yourself available.

We are always beginners with God.

You need to ask yourself: "how would Jesus feel in this situation?"

Dismiss any feeling that would not have been Jesus' feeling.

Sometimes you need to channel what you're feeling.
- use it for good
- ministry

Life comes out of the past. Its habits and states of feeling today reflect the habits of other years.
- continuous unity

---------------------------------------=

The evil one usually attacks a saint in the area where a saint might seem to be the most adept.
- Peter was brave so Peter was challenged to the point that Peter retreated in fear.

Faith is believing the Heavenly Father despite appearances and obeying the Heavenly Father despite consequences.

Always keep the promise and assurance of divine help in mind always.

The way of the cross demands humility, submissiveness, and contriteness.

Zeal must be tempered with the knowledge that without the Heavenly Father's help we can do nothing.

Success in every sphere must ever depend on our cultivating a spirit of worship.

----------------------------=

We must ask the Heavenly Father to bring the right people to us.
- We must expect that the Heavenly Father will do that.

We must ask the Heavenly Father to give us the right message in each case where we speak to anyone.

We must pray the Heavenly Father gives us the power to speak the right message with power.

How you wait is important as well as what you do as you wait.

We must look to the Holy Spirit to teach us how to pray.

Constantly look to Jesus for the inflow of His life into us.

Prayers must be fueled by meditating on the Word.

We will all pass through tests where our response will be the important thing.

-------------------------------=

No matter how happy you are with a spiritual gain, lean only on Jesus.

View every hardship as an opportunity for God to cultivate a new virtue in us.

God often uses bitter experiences to make us better.

Long for the wonder of God to take hold of your heart.

Nothing can fill our hearts more than the wonder of God and His love.

The cross represents a new kind of joy in giving.

God keeps giving us reasons to praise Him.

God's Spirit is our source of spiritual life.

Our faithfulness will be crucial in the seemingly insignificant yet important matters.

----------------------------------------=

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Feed your faith and your doubts will starve.

Our first concern should be to keep up the good love for Jesus.
- when we love Him as we ought, we find the fresh motivation that we need.

Christians have real spiritual power if we have real faith.

Faith claims Christ's Blood and the Spirit's flood.

Our love for Jesus needs to be renewed regularly by speaking about it.

The wells of God's salvation never run dry.

Think of what good might come out of the situation. What might you learn? What might God want to do?

------------------------------------------=

Focusing on Jesus brings courage tempered with His wisdom.

A moment of patience can prevent a great disaster.

How do I conduct my life?
- What attitudes do I display?
- What is my drive in life?

Do I consistently show love even when people mistreat me?

What type of spirit do I reveal?

How strong is my faith in God?

Am I an example of purity in everything I do?

Meditation helps us see the effects of the Word on our life.

The more we trust the Heavenly Father, the lighter the load will be.

Learn the valuable skill of using your own resources. Ask God to show you the resource to start with.

------------------------------=

Ask the Heavenly Father for help in the area of patience with difficult people. You might be surprised at how these situations can improve.

As we encounter difficult people, by God's grace we can see and love them through His eyes.

I must gain a better understanding of the nature and character of God in order to win the battle of life.

Diligence is vital to the Christian life.
- anything good takes effort.

We have to make the choice to work our faith.
- empowered by the Word.

We might have to keep certain goals private when discouraging people are around.

Someone may need your help and encouragement today. You may need his tomorrow.

-----------------------=

By the grace of God, take control of what you think.
- the heart that grieves over sin will experience genuine comfort.

We must continually walk in the light so we will be prepared for the unexpected changes life brings.

Is it not true that we could all benefit from another divine surprise?
Is it then surprising that God surprises us? In the face of inevitable interruptions, let us start off the day with a serene trust in God's will.

The beauty of Christian surrender is its acceptance of the unpredictable.

Our christian maturity is in proportion to the degree of our childlikeness.

Today let us reflect on the results of our actions. Are we pleased with what we are getting? Maybe it's time to change what we are doing.

--------------------------------=

Show the world what God has done in your heart, and tell them the message of the cross.

We must die to sin, self, and the world. Then we can receive the new, divine nature of Christ.

True greatness is serving others.

When we first speak life to the dry areas in our life, the Heavenly Father will then speak to the Holy Spirit to help complete the process.

What is the purpose behind the things we do?

True hope requires trust, faith, and expectation.

Let us be doing something worthwhile.
- shine as lights.

Am I following my God?
- what occupies my mind?
- where is my heart?
- where am I headed?

----------------------------------------=

How am I responding to Jesus?

We need to do more than just deal with the symptoms.

Am I fulfilling the purpose God has for me?

Seeking the Kingdom of God must be our priority in life.

Each small step of faith is a giant step of growth.

Every christian can be confident in our Heavenly Father. We can be confident in His love.

Properly prepare for spiritual tests.
- unexpected tests require vigilance.

When we are discouraged we should sing praises.

Actively look for little ways to be faithful to God every day.
