Spiritual Notebook 1

These statements should be written in a 180 page spiral notebook (leave a blank line between statements – write on both sides of a page). This should leave many more pages free for more statements to be written in that notebook as you continue reading, learning, and developing as you go through life.

Having a notebook with vital statements and important Scriptures written in it can give you an effective way to keep your mind refreshed and occupied as you look at it repeatedly throughout the day.

The Heavenly Father is well able to keep our love fresh and vibrant

Perfect love is trustworthy

God’s love is so strong, available, and stabilizing that we can confidently step into each day knowing that the good things are gifts from His hand and the challenges can be faced in His strength.

The Heavenly Father and Jesus have given us territory in the Heavenly realm that is supposed to translate into earthly territory as well – even when it doesn’t seem apparent. The evil one wants our territory and attempts to deceive us saints into giving up our territory. We saints, however, have the grace to be grounded. We saints must stand our ground vigilantly and not cede any territory to the evil one and take territory the evil one is contesting.

Growing in holiness means increasingly putting off sinful desires and their actions by the increasingly daily realization of our newness and the truth that we really are in Christ.

We need to renew our minds to the truth that a change has taken place in us and then live accordingly by faith, with the confidence that it will work out in our experience.

We grow as we appropriate more and more of Christ's life by the power of the Spirit. And as we grow, the reality of what we did totally in principle - namely crucify the flesh and its old self-centered influence - becomes increasingly more real in our experience.

Humility is confidence properly placed in Christ.

Proven character come through persevering through the tribulations of life.

-------------------------------=

We need to understand something of God's holiness before we can understand His love

It is rather a redemptive love that yearns for us to be holy as God Himself is holy.

God knows what is best for us. When He speaks, let us not be indifferent but attentive and obedient so life can spring forth.

Our zeal should be to grow more and more into His likeness.

We should always be mindful of God and conduct ourselves in a mature fashion.

In every choice, let us think: will this choice draw me closer to God or lead me farther away?

The Gospel concept is, "I am accepted by my faith in Christ's work, therefore I obey."
- obedience out of gratitude
- drawn into obedience through love for Christ.

Who is the realist?

"Bruce" likes to thing he is a Christian too....He literally conceals things that he is afraid others will find. He is really quite anxious about maintaining appearances.

The true realist knows that as he must turn his back on the south if he would go north, so he must turn his back on the devil if he would follow Christ.

Who is the true realist?

----------------------------------=

We are supposed to enjoy our relationship with Jesus Christ

We are controlled by what we enjoy.

The lower we stoop, the more we kneel, the more childlike we become, the closer we get to God.

Allow God to transform your frustrations into fruitfulness.

Strong men depend on God.

What do we delight in for our sustenance?

Our thoughts both form and reflect our character.

Are we aware of God's doings in our life?

We need to recognize and appreciate the workings of His finger

It is important to know to whom we are yielding ourselves.

--------------------------------=

We are called to rise above the thorns of life.

When God puts a thorn in your life, He is handing you a rose.

We will find true contentment from God our Father in Jesus Christ our Savior, and nowhere else on earth but there.

Does the world see Jesus when they look at me?

Adversity can be a path that leads to surrender.

- He wants to use us for His own greater purposes.

Sin will take you farther than you want to go, it will cost you more than you want to pay, and it will keep you longer than you want to stay.

Even when things go well for us, we need to seriously consider our ways.

----------------------------=

Are our ways in harmony with God's Word?

Don't despair if you fail at times. God will be there for you. He'll give you power to overcome temptation.

People tend to ignore the truth. When the truth predicts consequences to our actions, we even suppose that we can continue those actions and avoid the consequences.

God provides the grace and fortitude to bloom wherever we are.

When our relationship to Christ is fervent, we can bloom.

If there are no goals, there are no winners.

He who loves his neighbor as himself will see to it that others receive a fair measure of benefit from their mutual interactions.

--------------------=

If we diligently cultivate spiritual life, it will continue to thrive.

We must discern wisely and plan our actions prudently. We should weigh the odds, pray over a situation, and ask counsel from those we trust. But there comes a time when we must move ahead.

Let us be open to God's leading, consider carefully, trust Him completely, and step out with a heart of faith.

Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant.

Are you thankful, yet struggling? Life in "Zarephath" is truly hard; but then, meeting God us close often is.

What type of trees are you planting?

---------------------=

Ask yourself, "What have I found to do?" "What work is in front of me?"

What kind of fragrance do I emit? Do I have good attitudes in life?

Is our life beautiful in God's eyes? God is pleased with those who fatihfully beautify His Kingdom in this life.

Jesus still delights in helping us believe in Him more fully. He may be taking you through temporary pain for the eternal gain of knowing Him better.

What gets my attention? Is God's Word my meditation?

We all need to win the battle in our thoughts so that the actions that follow may be what God desires of us.

We should do what Christ did when struggling - seek support and pray earnestly to God.

------------------------------------=

Thoughts are the true index of character, even more reliable than words or actions.

Faithfulness in little things.

Wherever you find yourself, always show a loving attitude toward everyone. Do little deeds of kindness even to those who mistreat you or say unkind things about you.

Those small deeds show that we have the love of God.

If we do not master our thoughts, our thoughts will master us. and will lead us in a downward path.

Blessings await those who develop the spiritual discernment to see what the Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are doing.

The evidence of the Holy Spirit's control is revealed in a person's character.

------------------=

Eyes focused on the Lord are open to a new perspective.

Your faith will grow as you begin to discern His activity in your life. The joy and excitement of seeing His involvement in both big and small areas will motivate you to praise and thank Him, even in the hard times.

God has a purpose for everything that comes into our life.
- nothing is trivial.

Every day is an opportunity to see the Heavenly Father at work.

Let your work for God be a genuine labor of love.

We are responsible by God's grace to crucify the flesh. However we are often tempted to allow some of our flesh to live while we still claim to obey Christ's commands...With God's power we can bring it under control. This must be a daily choice.

--------------------=

The next time we are inclined to pass by someone in trouble, let's ask ourselves, "What is motivating me - Christian love or something else?"

Are we cultivating and building the relationship that truly matters most?

Since life is so fleeting, we ought to be motivated to fill our time here with most sincere worship and service to our God.

God may allow hardships in our lives as He purifies us. He may ask us to give up something because He has something better awaiting us.

If we are devoted to Christ and His Kingdom, our work, hobbies, vision, and entire life will reflect it. Our lifestyle will reflect a sincere desire to do all to His glory, since we belong to Christ alone.

--------------------------=

The believer is risen with Christ so his practices and pursuits spring from a spiritual, God-centered perspective.
- His affection is set on things above.

Always maintain the attitude "Lord what wilt Thou have me to do?"

Our heart needs to be full of good things from Jesus so that we speak useful and edifying words.

A true child of God will reflect God's light, thus touching others and spreading the warmth of God's love to them.

When the radiance of the Son fills our heart, we will feel compelled to tell others about His salvation.

What do we do with opportunities?
- Only God can keep us prepared.
- But we must do our part.
