Die Angst vor Neuem senkt die Lebenserwartung. Das ergab eine US-Studie an Ratten.

Die Forscher fanden heraus, dass besonders scheue Tiere durchschnittlich 102 Tage fr�her sterben als ihre tapferen Artgenossen. Dieser Zeitraum entspricht beim Menschen etwa zehn Jahren.

Verantwortlich f�r die k�rzere Lebensspanne ist offenbar das Stresshormon Corticosteron. Dessen Pegel war im Blut der �ngstlichen Ratten dem Magazin "New Scientist" zufolge um 20 % h�her als bei den anderen Tieren.
