Author: Tamiri
Subject: Relaxed

For once, Tamiri seems relaxed as she strolls into the dining hall, both her hands casually tucked into pockets, and an amiable smile on her face. After taking one of the bowls of spiced wherry stew, she slides onto one of the seats at a table by herself, her eyes wandering around, unconciously searching for Varda or Brynn. They'd both seemed friendly enough, and she wished to return the favor if she'd a chance. If she became Junior Weyrwoman-and indeed, that was why she was there, was it not?--she could not go around holding silly grudges or tongue-lashing anyone who made a remark that she thought was a slight against her. She blew things out of proportion too much; she'd been told that over and over by her parents, but try as they might to correct her, she still had the problem. Aye, she thought with a private grin, and several others besides, not the least of which being her temper. She got it from her father, though he'd hardly been around for her to know it. When he wasn't punishing one Tamiri or her siblings, he was out with his herdbeasts, sometimes returning long after sundown. Tamiri comes back to the present when she realizes that her soup was slowly cooling, the steam that had at first eagerly curled up from it now gone. Still, she takes her time, savoring each bite, sighing her appreciation at the meal well-cooked when she finishes. But now, where to? muses Tamiri. For she was rested, and fed, yet--she had nothing to do. An odd, yet welcomed, change from her past days at her parents' small holding. Surely the Weyrwoman could assign her a task. Or perhaps she'd sally down to the beach, have a go at a fire lizard--she'd heard the creatures were charming, "a dragon in miniature." She could use a friend, too, until she--in case she didn't--make a human friend. Yes, she decides, that's what she will do, unless the Weyrwoman finds her first.
