Subject: Recipe-Spiced Herdbeast Stew (Terran-U.S. version)

Serves 4-6

1 pound herdbeast(beef) chunks
2T. oil, for frying
1 large onion, sliced thin
2-3 cloves garlic, chopped
2t. minced fresh ginger root
1 large tomato, chopped
1 1/2 T. curry powder (Madras-style)
1t. salt
1 14.5 oz. can beef broth
Thickener- 2T. each of melted butter w/ wheat flour
Garnishes- Cooked rice, chopped peanuts, raisins, chutney, HB egg, chopped green onions, banana slices

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Use cast iron pot w/lid for cooking/baking-works best here.
Fry herdbeast chunks in oil until well-browned on medium-high heat. Add garlic, ginger and onions and fry until onions are nearly all soft. Add salt, curry, tomato and broth to pot and stir well. Cover and place in 350 degree oven for 2 hours.
30 minutes before time is up, spoon up just enough pot liquid to thickener in little bowl until well-mixed. Add all back to pot, stir well, cover and place back in oven for remainder of cooking time.
Serve over cooked rice with any of the garnishes as you desire.
