Hi Jay Dee,

And, I apologize to David for confusing you with him, confused?

I believe I have maintained that John 7:38-39 is not referring to the apostles ONLY but also to those who would receive power (the Spirit) from the laying on of the apostles hands (see Mark 16:17-20) as I have referenced that many times. I believe it was you (one of you) that suggested that I said it was only for the apostles. So, again, and to make it clear - John 7:38-39 is not just for the apostles but also those whom they would lay their hands upon. It has everything to do with the miraculous nature and pointing to Pentecost. There is absolutely no way one can conclude that this passage is dealing with a non-miraculous, literal, bodily, indwelling for anyone living today. Again, verse 39 defines verse 38 - and that is in context! The reason you make that assumption is because you incorrectly conclude that Acts 2:38-39 is speaking of a non-miraculous indwelling. On the contrary, Acts 2 is speaking only of a miraculous nature, the entire context of Acts 2/Joel 2 is so clear in this. But more on Acts 2 later.

However, I believe you are right and it is time to make a new thread/post. I will answer the rest of your post beginning with a new thread and make additional comments concerning your views of the miraculous and "non-miraculous" before and after Acts 2.

Brotherly,
Doug
