I too would like to lose some weight but I'm not going to starve myself to do it. I refuse to go on an official "diet" but I am starting to exercise in the hopes that the increased activity will get me into better physical condition and maybe shed a few pounds. I picked up an exercise bike a few weeks ago and am up to 30 mins a day, split up into two or three sessions. (my hands can't handle it all at once) I think I've lost about 5 lbs or so, but haven't been doing it since my surgery. I'm hoping to get back at it within a few days.

One thing that really irks me about the size acceptance movement is it's refusal to deal with weight loss issues, except to preach the mantra that diets don't work blah, blah, blah. Well, I know that some people can successfully lose and keep off weight....my birthsister did. Not everyone manages it, though - I watched my adoptive mother lose and regain all my life. I just feel it hurts the SA movement to be so fanatically against weight loss. You *can* accept yourself but still try to better yourself. It's like a paralyzed person who accepts his/her injury but hopes for a day a cure can be found.

Ok, I'm babbling but anyway, just wanted to say I agree with you!
