agreed.

i think a more reasonable approach is truly one of "acceptance" rather than resignation.

i think if someone has tried and tried--as i have--and chooses to give up--as i have NOT--then that should be seen as his/her choice and be respected.

if someone chooses not to work on weight RIGHT NOW, that too should be respected.

life is such a juggling act. i have to have a lot of things in balance before i can make ANY progress on my weight. my body is VERY STUBBORN with its fat stores.

i heard suggested on a program recently that making simple substitutions like opting for "light mayonaise" would often result in weight loss--HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!! they obviously weren't in my body when i was eating an ultra lowfat diet & exercising twice a day & losing N0THING!!!!!

i find the whole thing EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. i mean, i forego pizza, pasta, chips, you name it, not to mention soda and desserts, the whole FREAKING day, but then my little sugarfree concoction of kamut flour, vegetable shortening, egg substitute and sugarfree nestle's quik that i allow myself in the evening is just a LITTLE TOO MUCH for my stubborn body to let go even the teensiest bit of fat. keep in mind that i'm walking at LEAST a mile a day these days.

well, i gave that up. it's just one freaking sacrifice after another.

so if someone is not at a place in his/her life where s/he feels s/he can handle that kind of repeated, ever-increasing deprivation, i really can't judge, you know???? and i don't think anyone else should either.

smokers do much worse things to their health every single day than we do (speaking for most obese people). they do take shit from society to an extent, but not NEARLY the abuse that we take, so the line that people are just 'concerned' for our health is a FREAKING CROCK!!!!! they don't like how we look, so they want to persecute us. they tell themselves that we "could" change with just a little effort, but they have NO IDEA!!!!!

i mean think about it, how many people start and stop an eating or exercise regime???? we do the same thing, over and over and over and over.........again. somehow we are inferior to other people and worthy of their ridicule because we can't be more consistent than they are???? we're INFERIOR by virtue of the fact that we're not SUPERIOR??????????

i don't think the SA movement should deny the medical issues, but i don't think it needs to become a weight loss movement either. i think we just need to accept that yes, it's a harmful medical condition, but that people have a right to deal with that as they see fit, and deserve respect regardless.
