does it have a purple trumpet type flower ?.If so ,I think it is that rubber vine or what ever it is that eventually kills the trees by smothering them.It is an introduced plant if thats the one you got me thinking about.
But im just guessing.
Very interesting topic regarding the evolution of cactus,though. Enjoying the answers very much .
