Although I grow mesembs I don't call myself experienced by a long shot. Mostly, the ones I grow are Lithops and Conophytums which I have grown from seed. I find them easy to grow as long as they are kept on the dry side, especially when the new leaves are starting to appear.
Do you have a problem of some sort.
