I have Stapelia gigantea growing here in a raised rockery bed where it gets nothing but complete neglect. It withstands extreme baking heat in summer and heavy frosts through winter. And yet it grows rampantly and flowers profusely (dozens of blowflies are kept very busy indeed!!!). So my advice is just to plant it somewhere and forget about it.
