Les,

I would suggest that you divide the ashes and put in separate urns/containers so that you both can keep his remains near you. I am so sorry for your loss; I too just lost my son and we had him cremated as well. His father and I are divorced and he kept some of the ashes to scatter at places that were special to he and my son. The rest he sent to me to keep or scatter in a place that had special meaning to me. As difficult as it is to divide the ashes, I believe that you will both find comfort in doing so.
